The Frenship tennis team placed first in its own tournament on Feb. 6 at the Frenship High School tennis courts.
The tournament almost didn’t happen after weather caused it to be rescheduled for one week later, and weather threatened to end it for another week.
“We had some teams not be able to return, but most of them were able too,” said Frenship head coach Ted Phillips. “We found a day that wasn’t wet outside and had the tournament while we could.”
The Tigers varsity team took the gold medal with a score of 121.
Dumas placed second with a score of 110 and Monterey placed third with 108.
Jon-Michael Sisson and Davis Odorizzi led the Tigers taking first place in boys doubles.
James McCormick and Jacob bass placed fourth in boys doubles.
Marcie Phillips and Lauren Strong placed second in girls doubles. Brooke Hendricks and Taylor Low placed eighth in the event.
Joseph Oh led the way in boys singles with a fourth place finish and Kimiko Ordono placed seventh.
Christy Zarate placed second in girls singles and Kendyl Turner placed fourth.
Austin Carder and Tiffany Benson placed fourth in mixed doubles. Landon Roberts and Sarah Miller placed 10th.
