Love Me ’Do offers cuts and manicures
Trims, cuts, highlights, colors, up-dos, manicures, rock-star pedicures and waxing are all being offered at Wolfforth’s new salon, Love Me ’Do.
Jennifer Griffis, owner, said she found the name of her business not on a Beatles album, but through a website for hair salons. She described a spinning wheel of names and the site recommended several names, including Love My Hairdo.
Because most people don’t use the term “hairdo” anymore, she said she decided to change it up a bit and make it more modern and fun.
That fits into her philosophy for the entire business: She wants a fun place where people can be comfortable and relax.
Griffis has two stylists working at Love Me ’Do so far, including Laura Stephens, who worked at the same location when it was Kuts and Kurls.
“We’re still looking for two stylists,” Griffis said.
Stephens worked at Kuts and Kurls for just a few days shy of six years, and said she is happy to be a stylist with Love Me ’Do and excited to see her old clients. Stephens is from Wolfforth and said she enjoys being back in town.
Griffis is working on becoming certified herself. She went to beauty school in Alpine years ago, but had to put her certification on the back burner when she and her husband expanded their family.
Now all of her children are in school, and she saw a sign in the window of the salon at 712 U.S. 62/82, a business on the access road. The sign said, “Salon for rent.”
So Griffis decided to go to work as a stylist in her own shop.
Griffis opened her doors on Feb. 5.
“I’m just really excited. I’m ready to see it start to blossom,” she said. “We’re here and we hope people come see us.”
Terri Robinette, president of the Wolfforth Chamber of Commerce, said chamber officials are excited about a new business in Wolfforth because it helps residents support the local economy.
“I think it’s always a positive thing when we bring in a new business, especially a service business like that,” Robinette said. “Hopefully that will help her, too.”
