Holiday craft fair offers fellowship
The Holiday Memories Gift and Craft Fair serves many purposes at Monterey Church of Christ: it allows members to fellowship, it helps people get a jump on holiday shopping and it is a way for members to reach outside the church to others in the community.
About 50 vendors will set up inside the worship center and the Fireside room of Monterey Church of Christ for the fair Nov. 15. Shoppers of all faiths are welcome to browse possible gifts between 12-4 p.m. at the church, located at 6111 82nd St.
Monterey Office Manager Randa Lang said there will be everything from painted furniture to jewelry to ceramics at the fair.
“It’s all kinds of different things that would be great Christmas gifts, and that’s kind of what we do, kicking off the holiday shopping season,” Lang said, noting that there will also be food vendors so shoppers can stay refreshed.
Lang said the event has been held for the past six years.
“Some of our friends at Southcrest Baptist (Church) told us about it as a women’s ministry outreach. We went to theirs and loved it, and we changed a few things,” Lang said.
Lang said church members enjoy seeing members of other congregations as well as familiar vendors from year to year.
“A lot of the vendors we have, we’ve had for years,” Lang said. “We’ve just got a limited space to work in.”
