Frenship swears in newest member of Board of Trustees

The Frenship Independent School District Board of Trustees welcomed a new face last week to the board.

Greg Robinson was sworn in by Superintendent David Vroonland’s assistant, Diane Goodlett, during the school board meeting of Nov. 18.

Robinson has been heavily involved in Frenship Youth Baseball and Frenship Youth Tiger Football League. He is currently the president of the Frenship High School athletic booster club.

Those activities and the youth of his children kept him from running for school board in the past, he said Thursday night, Nov. 21.

“I thought about it several years ago, and the timing wasn’t right,” Robinson said.

But he recently decided to submit his name for consideration as an appointee to the board to fill a vacancy.

“I just thought I’d get in there and help the whole district with the growth Frenship is going throug and all that kind of stuff,” Robinson said. “I thought I’d step up to the next level of Frenship leadership.”

Robinson said he is looking forward to addressing growth and the upcoming bond election in Frenship.

Robinson’s seat will be up for election in May.

“I’m planning on going ahead and running in May,” Robinson said.

He said his kids, a senior at FHS and a seventh-grader, think it’s neat that he is serving.

“They asked what I’d be doing. They didn’t really know what the school board does,” he said.

Robinson has been married to Angela Robinson for 27 years. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, golf and attending Wolfforth United Methodist Church.

He works as a vice president for David G. Halley and Co., a commercial heating and air-conditioning supplier.
