Christine Mason can still recall her freshman high school days when she first met her husband Paul.

“He just had more than your average bear,” she said. “I saw him as a good role model. Then he asked me out, and after one date that was it.”

Paul Mason, a 1974 Frenship High School graduate, works as senior district manager for the Midland offices of BJ Chemical Services. After high school, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in history and a minor in physical education. His wife Christine a 1977 Frenship alumnus and a teacher at Guadalupe Elementary School, remembers meeting her husband through their involvement in athletics.

“I played basketball for many years. Paul held some of the titles in weight lifting,” she said. “He was just a little ball of fire, and I chased him.”

They married in 1978.

Christine said they lived in Wolfforth across from what was then the high school while Paul was in college. It was there that he did his student teaching.

After beginning his job in the oil industry, the couple moved to Oklahoma and then to Louisiana.

“He’s been promoted several times and two times in the past two years,” she said.

Last October, Paul was promoted to senior district manager for BJ Chemical Services in Midland. He has been working out of the Midland office and has worked for the company almost 25 years.
