All UIL events postponed due to swine flu

The swine flu is effecting UIL sporting events.

The UIL has announced today that all UIL sporting events including baseball, softball, tennis and track have been postponed until May 11 in order to help prevent the spread of the disease.

This immediately effects Frenship sporting events that were to take place this week. The baseball and softball games are in the process of being rescheduled.

In order to fit each round of the playoffs in before the state tournaments, softball and baseball will have two series a week rather than the traditional once a week series.

For Frenship head softball coach Robby Dickenson, this is not a bad thing.

“It might actually be a blessing,” said Dickenson. “We have some players that are injured and need that extra week to get back to 100 percent. This will give us the opportunity to do that. On the other hand, it is going to be hard keeping the girls’ focus for so long without a game.”
