Wolfforth Library director dies after long illness

The director of the Wolfforth Library died Monday evening after a long illness.

Mayor Charles Addington confirmed that Andi Powers died Monday night.

“Not only did I lose a friend, I lost a patient,” Addington said. He is also a physician in Wolfforth.

Addington described Powers as a “vital member of the city staff,” noting that she ran a progressive library that was quite large for the size of town it served.

“The city lost a tremendous ally and friend today,” Addington said.

Marie Evans, the head of Wolfforth’s Friends of the Library organization, said it is hard to imagine that someone so young and full of life is gone.

“She was that bubbly person in the library,” Evans said. Powers’ absence will leave “a really big hole.”
