Hud’s Auto Service is family-owned and operated with a foundation on trust

DEPEND ON HUD’S – For the past 23 years, Hud’s Auto Service has specialized in the type of trust that has folks talking! Loyal customers are referring neighbors, friends and family to the fairness and excellent service they have found at 8212 Valencia.

Lawrence “Hud” and Lisa Huddleston moved to Lubbock in 1989, with their three kids, as a part of a partnership that desired to offer quality auto repair from people you could trust.

“When we first moved here, our building was the only one out here in this industrial section of Lubbock,” Lisa recalls. “In fact, our only neighbors were cows in a pen at the end of the street!”

In 1999, Lisa and Hud became the sole owners of the business. In 2011, they changed the DBA from Auto Service Center to Hud’s Auto Service, since people referred to it as “Hud’s Shop” all the time.

“Then (and now), we knew that being honest and trustworthy was critical in our industry. People need a good auto repair shop they can trust to do only the needed repairs and maintenance… and nothing else. We continue to make trust the foundation of our business,” says Hud.

Many of the customers at Hud’s Auto Service have been loyal for years. Hud’s has even started caring for second generation customers – a testament to the history they’ve built with a solid, trustworthy reputation.

“Currently, we are in the process of a slight expansion,” Hud adds. “We are letting folks in southwest Lubbock know that we are still conveniently located as their neighbor here at 8212 Valencia – just two streets west of the 82nd and Upland intersection on the south side of 82nd.”

Hud has 23 years of experience in the repair industry and currently oversees the business, while also handling the diagnostic work and service writing for the company. Lisa grew up in New Mexico, but moved to West Texas shortly after she married Hud in 1980. She does a little bit of everything, from shuttling customers who need a ride to keeping books for the business.

Hud and Lisa are humble – they know they haven’t built their company’s reputation alone.

“We are so blessed to have employees who are not only quality technicians, but men of integrity who care about the quality of their work, as well,” says Lisa. “A business is only as good as its employees and there is none better than our shop foreman and service writer, Aaron Cash.”

Aaron grew up in Littlefield and received his Auto & Diesel Tech training at South Plains College in Levelland. He has been with Hud’s for 17 years.

Hud’s also has two ASE-certified technicians, Marco Valdez and Tully Singleton. Marco graduated from El Paso Trade School in 1985 and is a very capable technician with over 20 years of experience and distinguished service awards. Tully is a 2009 graduate of Universal Technical Institute (UTI) who grew up learning the trade from his father and uncles, who were also auto techs.

When customers were asked in a recent survey what they liked best about Hud’s Auto Service, the #1 answer was trust.

One customer put it like this, “If they say it needs to be fixed, I know it needs to be fixed. They can be trusted to only make needed repairs.”

Lisa adds, “The other thing we often hear is that our customers like the personal care they are given. They say that our staff takes the time to listen to their needs and respond in a way that is easy to understand.”
