Balloons to provide tethered rides to UMC clients at 98th Street and Indiana Avenue

IF you have nothing else better to do at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning, consider attending a balloon event at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church at 98th Street and Indiana Avenue tomorrow morning.

Several balloonists will be in the church parking lot, partnering with the University Medical Center’s physical medicine department to provide several clients with a chance to experience a tethered balloon flight.

You probably won’t get a ride, but it’s awesome to see those balloons up and glowing in the early morning light. It’s a particular treat for toddlers.

The event, called “Fly the Rainbow,” is being put on by members of the Southwest Regional Balloon Club. The same group will be putting on a balloon rally in Wolfforth in a month or so. I’ll have more information on that in the near future.
