Ann Akin provides professional, faith-based counseling for adults, adolescents and groups
Ann Allison Akin, M.Ed., M.Div.eq, LPC, has been reaching out to help people in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico for 26 years.
For 24 of those years, she served as a Chaplain at Covenant Health System, assisting those who were experiencing some of the most difficult situations of their lives.
Along with her psychological training and experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor for 12 years, Ann brings a perspective of faith and spirituality. She is an Ordained Minister in the United Methodist Church, and serves as one of the Associate Pastors at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Ann is a Diplomat in the American Psychotherapy Association, a Certified Grief Counselor, and a 2011 Outstanding Woman of the Year for the National Association of Professional Women.
Ann Allison Akin’s philosophy of treatment uses a combination of tested psychological methods, while integrating a faith-based perspective. She assists clients in using their own faith system, history and personality to move through the healing process. She believes that hope can be born out of therapeutic conversations, giving clients a guide to forming a path toward a healthier life.
One of Ann’s many strengths is her ability to put people at ease, which makes the therapeutic process even more likely to be successful. When clients come into her welcoming office, they are greeted with her genuine smile and caring spirit.
