Another State Championship for TEGA; Boys Team crowned in Garland, Texas

TEGA is Proud of their Level 4 State Championship Boys Team!

Last weekend in Garland, Texas, the TEGA Boys Team was crowned Texas State Champions. The Level 4 state championship team is comprised of Landon Tipton, Jack Williams and Tae Thompson, and is coached by Brian Neeper.

In addition to the team championship, Landon Tipton placed 1st in the All-Around, Jack Williams finished 2nd place in the All-Around and 1st place on High Bar, and Tae Thompson placed 16th in the All-Around. This was an amazing accomplishment for these first-year competitive gymnasts, and everyone at TEGA is looking forward to even bigger things in the future.

So what makes the TEGA Gymnastics Teams so successful? First, it starts with the owners and coaching staff.

Owners Jeff and Michelle Dow have experienced practically every aspect and level of the sport during their 35 years of involvement. From young beginners, to national competitors, to collegiate scholarship athletes, to gym owners, to coaches of high level competitors, and now as parents of a competitive female gymnast, Jeff and Michelle have created a top quality environment to train competitive gymnasts right here in Lubbock.

The TEGA coaching staff, led by Team Director Chris Sanders, includes several former U.S. National Team members and NCAA All-Americans who have guided many Lubbock gymnasts to become State and Regional champions, High School All-Americans, Junior Olympic National qualifiers, and NCAA scholarship athletes. Their top-notch coaching staff strives for excellence and is committed to building a proper foundation of skills, strength and flexibility. TEGA’s proven philosophy fosters a love for the great sport of gymnastics, while motivating each individual to reach his or her greatest potential.

“At TEGA, we believe competitive gymnastics is inspiring,” says Jeff Dow. “These young men and women are extremely dedicated to their sport, putting in hours that would resemble a part-time job for some, but for them – it’s a labor of love! The poise, grace, confidence, strength and flexibility that these young athletes display would make anyone stand up and cheer!”

Team TEGA boasts of athletes that personify these traits. How many people could confidently propel themselves onto a 4-inch wide balance beam in front of a huge crowd, or climb a 20-foot rope without using their legs? TEGA has a team of athletes who can do just that, without blinking an eye. Just in the past year, the TEGA Girls and Boys teams have won multiple state team championships, multiple individual state championships, dominated the West Texas district competitions, and earned over 75 gold medal performances.

With the 2012 Summer Olympics right around the corner, TEGA is excited about our U.S. team, and hopes that everyone catches the gymnastics bug! Knowing that the last two female Olympic All-Around gold medalists hail from Texas, everyone at TEGA can’t wait to see who the next champion will be.

“At TEGA, our passion for the sport of gymnastics is reflected in our commitment to our athletes, and we consider our young athletes and their dedicated families to be the very best! Our expectations are high at TEGA and we look forward many successes in the future,” says Jeff.
