Children’s author to read, perform at Wolfforth Library

A Lubbock children’s author will be reading and performing at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wolfforth Library.

Michael “Uncle Mike” Daniel, author of “The Littledoobiddles and the Doobetterdees,” will perform for free at the library.

FHS band students win medals at state solo, ensemble contest

Several Frenship High School band students won gold and silver medals at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest over Memorial Day weekend at the University of Texas in Austin.

The students qualified to compete at the state level by winning gold medals at the UIL Region 16 competition held in February in Lubbock.

Two ensemble efforts were awarded gold medals.

Leah SoRelle, Kaitlen McNeil and Adrianna Chavez won a gold medal for a twirling ensemble performance, while Drew Macha, Griff Kimball, Ryan Faulkenberry, Kristen Griggs and Cady Mello won gold for a percussion ensemble.

Macha and Kimball also won solo gold medals for their keyboard percussion solos, while Sarahlinna Guerrero and Maddy Kimball won gold medals for their respective flute solos.

Silver medalist soloists from FHS include: Mitchell Garrison, Omar Haney, Kaitlen McNeil, Leah Sorelle, Scott Sircable, Parker Whiting, M.J. Rodriguez, Rynae Pavino, Emilio Hernandez, Josiah Baker, Josh Prothro, Matthew Howard, Brady Franklin, Avery Bouffard, Ryan Faulkenberry, Brent Brocklehurst, Elizabeth Medina, Mia Zamora and Lucas Tomblin.
