Frenship downs Plainview for number one seed

The Frenship girls’ basketball edged Plainview 41-39 Friday for the number one seed in District 4-4A at the Rip Griffin Center on the Lubbock Christian University campus.

The Tigers (8-1) split the series with Plainview during the regular season and had to play the Bulldogs for a third time to determine playoff seeding.

“Any time you play a competitive rival three times in a season, that third game is going to be ugly at times,” said Terry Lowrey, Frenship head coach. “On the flip side, it is very competitive. We have had three games that are very competitive and at a playoff atmosphere. I think that will help us when it comes time for the playoffs.”

The Tigers will play its first round of the playoffs against Caprock at 6 p.m. Tuesday at West Texas A&M in Canyon.
