Frenship FFA students win third at area talent competition(0)

Kaitlyn Schaffner and Maci McCabe won third place at the FFA area convention talent competition where Schaffner sang accompanied by McCabe on an acoustic guitar.
The Frenship High School seniors competed against four teams in the district competition. After winning first place they attended the area convention. They performed two songs at the convention and were judged by 200 of their peers who voted on the winners.
Risse Ashburn keeps valedictorian honor in family
Risse Ashburn always knew she was making good grades but was still surprised to earn the honor of being valedictorian of her graduating class … the top-ranking senior academically.
TEA awards Frenship
Frenship schools were awarded 30 Gold Performance Acknowledgments by the Texas Education Agency for student performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests.
As a district, Frenship Independent School District received four acknowledgments, including attendance, reading, writing and higher education readiness in English and language arts.
Students place at Panhandle-South Plains Fair

Two Frenship students and their sheep picked up first- prize ribbons after the Panhandle-South Plains Fair last weekend.
Allie Henrie had three sheep that placed in the fair, including a light heavyweight southdown which placed first, and a heavyweight finewool which placed second and was also the reserve champion fine wool.
Taylor Turner’s black-faced sheep placed first in the class 6 medium wool category.
Frenship FFA students take first at science fair
Three Frenship students took first place in the state FFA agri-science fair competition last week at Texas Tech University.
Nathan Pond and Kaitlyn Schaffner placed first in the team division of the biochemistry and food sciences category and Graysen Ortega placed first in the singles division of the biotechnology category.
Frenship students earn Lone Star Farmer Degrees
After four years of work, three Frenship High School seniors received their Lone Star Farmer Degree from the Future Farmers of America. Throughout the past four years, the students had to meet certain FFA qualifications, including demonstrating leadership abilities, have a satisfactory scholarship record and participating in the planning and completion of the chapter program of activities.
Terra Vista Middle School band takes first in TMEA competition
The Terra Vista Middle School gold band won first place in the Texas Music Educators Association’s Region 16 honor band competition June 3 at TVMS.
The band, under the direction of Jimmie Exline and assisted by Ashley Applewhite, Geoffrey Bissett and David Speer, entered the contests with recordings of “Miss Liberty” by Karl King, “Our Kingsland Spring” by Samuel Hazo and “Fantasy on a Fiddle Tune” by Pierre LaPlante.
