Area businessmen won’t say the Frenship area — and Lubbock as a whole — are coming out of the national recession.
That’s because they don’t believe it affected Lubbock County the way it did other areas.
“If I would turn my TV off and not watch the national news, you would think Lubbock was its own utopia,” said Larry Allen, chief executive officer of Peoples Bank.

Vroonland takes the reins of Frenship schools (0)
Officially, David Vroonland won’t begin his duties as the superintendent of Frenship Independent School District until July 1.
But after his contract was approved by the school board Tuesday night, Vroonland was whisked into executive session with the board, and then advised the board once it resumed open session more than an hour later.

Frenship FFA students win third at area talent competition (0)

Kaitlyn Schaffner and Maci McCabe won third place at the FFA area convention talent competition where Schaffner sang accompanied by McCabe on an acoustic guitar.
The Frenship High School seniors competed against four teams in the district competition. After winning first place they attended the area convention. They performed two songs at the convention and were judged by 200 of their peers who voted on the winners.

Lyons drafted by Yankees (0)

Taking things one step at a time has worked out for former Frenship baseball star Tyler Lyons.
Lyons, now pitching for Oklahoma State University, was drafted in the 10th round, No. 315 overall, by the New York Yankees on June 10 during the Major League Baseball draft.
